Here's to fulfilling New Year's resolutions! We've started the Trade Mark process, completed our first video on the Shutterbug Designs Bag System, created our brochure and add slicks, started the process to move into the wholesale arena and launched our Internet Parties.  The only thing left on the list was to start this blog so here we are!  We look forward to hearing what you have to say as well as your thoughts and ideas.

Shutterbug Designs is a family owned and operated design business located in Southeastern Connecticut.  Alicia Lane Clendennin is the founder and owner of the company.   That's me and I'll be the one adding to this blog!

We went live with internet and local sales in January 2010.   The product line, which I  designed and tested, features a selection of purses that were originally designed for use as camera bag purses for DSLR cameras.  The functionality of the removable liner has resulted in the use of the bag expanding to include a limitless array of possibilities and uses.  As a result, the target audience has progressed to all users

By nature, I am a very methodical, organized Virgo who has spent a lifetime trying to find the perfect purse to organize many odds and ends.  Over the years, my love of bags resulted in quite an assortment of styles and brands, but never exactly what I was looking for.

My bag quest eventually became the quest to find the perfect purse to carry my camera gear without looking like a camera bag.  I searched the internet and tried multiple items, but nothing quite fit the bill.  Bags were either too big, too expensive or lacked organization. Since the perfect bag remained elusive, I set about designing one.

As an avid seamstress and designer since high school, sewing and design work provided me with many wonderful experiences as well as the opportunity to meet and work with many exciting and interesting people.  This work ranged from doing alterations to designing custom wedding and evening wear.  I spent many years sewing and designing for a variety of groups and individuals.  This included the wardrobe for the various contestants for the Miss America Preliminary Pageants throughout Connecticut as well as being the seamstress for the cast of Mystic Pizza where I got to meet and sew for Julia Roberts!  It was never my intention to begin sewing and selling bags, however creating the perfect bag turned out to be a natural extension of my previous experiences.

After many trials and revisions, the Busy Bee emerged and I had a design that I was thrilled with.  The desire to have multiple bags lead to the eventual creation of the Shutterbug Design bag system.  The removable Cocoon liner, multiple cover styles and Cricket Clutches resulted in a cost effective versatile bag system that provides limitless combinations and organization possibilities.

And so here we are today, a little over 2 years later....still in business, expanding and meeting tons of new and interesting people.  Life couldn't be better!
